Birthday Cards With Layering Stencils

Hello crafters!

In this post I am sharing a few birthday cards made using a butterfly layering stencil, by Newton’s Nook Designs. For the first layer of the stencil I blended my panels  using Concord and 9th dye inks. For the second layer, I applied Glitz glitter gel, so these butterflies have a lot of sparkle!

Once everything was completely dried, I trimmed each panel to  be 5 ¼” x 4” and I cut a large butterfly off from the center of each panel. The next step is to adhere the panel to the front of the card bases and adhere the large butterflies back to the front panel as well, right back in their negative space!

Before adhering the butterflies to the front panels, I scored and folded each one in half. Then, I  added a thin strip of self adhesive foam in the center of  each butterfly, so they have some dimension and their wings are free, allowing us to lift them up when we take the cards out of the envelopes!
