Creative Ways To use Your Stencils

Hello crafters! Today I am sharing two card designs to  demonstrate the many different ways we can use our stencil sets! Instead of stenciling over white cardstock, as we do most of the time, this time I did it over a colored cardstock for a different look! Then, I hot-foiled over my stenciled panel to add more interest, and added some texture by dry embossing my panels with a stencil layer. It was very fast and easy to do soI hope you give it a try!

  • Begin by stenciling two panels using the Spellbinders “Nature’s Frame” stencil set. I stenciled over Spellbinders cardstock in the color “Pink Sand”.
  • Hot foil each panel with a large panel plate included in the Spellbinders “Elliptical Weave” hot foil set. I used Spellbinders foil in the colors “Opal” and “Polished Brass”.
  • Use stencil layer number 1 to dry emboss each panel. I used my Platinum 6 machine and the following sandwich: plates A, B, E, panel, stencil, Shim F and Adapter Plate D.
  • Using clear stamps included in the Spellbinders “Nature’s Dance” stencil set, stamp a sentiment in the center of each panel using black ink.
  • Trim off each panel to 4” x 5 ¼” and adhere each one to the front of an A2 size white note card.
  • Create a pocket shaped matching envelope using metal plates included in the Stampendous “A2 Gift Card Holder And Envelope” die set.
  • Stamp “Smile”  to the flap of each envelope using a stamp included in the  Spellbinders “Nature’s Dance” stamp set. I like to use 65Lb cardstock for making my custom envelope and I find it to be the perfect thickness!

Tips:

  • Tip 1 : Use a sand eraser to remove any over-foiling.
  • Tip 2 : Use low tack tape to temporarily tape plates, stencils and foil pieces to the cardstock.
