Simon Says Stamp – Wednesday Challenge

Hello there! 

Today’s card will be part of Simon Says Stamp’s Wednesday challenge. This is my first time participating and I am very excited! This is such a great initiative, and I feel that these challenges will motivate me to be more creative, and actually make time for card making!

This week’s challenge is “Favorite Technique”, featuring My Favorite Things products. My favorite technique is die cutting. I absolutely love it! It is so much fun, especially when I am working with layering dies. I always get the feeling that I’m solving a puzzle, and I love puzzles! 

For today’s card, I kept it very simple. It is a top folding, A2 size card. I used a purple cardstock for the base of the card, and a white cardstock for the front panel. The inside of the card is blank, with plenty of room to write a special message!

To create the white panel, I first used the Simon Says Stamp Strips 1 and 2 die set to cut some cardstock strips. You can cut it using your paper trimmer; however, I think you get a more finished look when using these dies to cut out cardstock strips.

The “thinking of you” die is from Simon Says Stamp,  designed by the wonderful Kristina Werner. The stamped sentiment on the envelope is by My Favorite Things, Deepest Sympathy stamp set. I love this stamp set because it has beautiful,  big and bold sentiments that are just perfect for stamping on envelopes. 

To make the die cut “thinking of you” stand out, I cut it three times and stacked them for dimension. The stamped sentiment on the envelope is very shiny in real life because I heat embossed it, using Ranger holographic embossing powder. To finish it up, rhinestones were added to the center of the flowers, making this card even more special..
