Non Traditional Christmas Colors
Hello crafters! As I have said so many times before, Christmas is my favorite holiday and I love everything about it! I love the traditional gold, red and green color combination for Christmas. However, lately I have been challenging myself to break from tradition and try other color combinations for my seasonal note cards! I have been enjoying the results very much, and today I have two card examples for you!
This first one is a slimline note card and it measures 8” x 4”. I started by hot foiling my background panel with the Spellbinders “Starburst” hot foil plate. I used a piece of Prism foil, and since I needed to foil a panel that is bigger than the hot foil plate, I hot foiled one half one my panel first, then I shifted the plate to cover the other half of my 8” x 4” panel, that later I trimmed to be 7 ¾” x 3 ¾”.
To create the Christms trees, I use the Spellbinders “Bottle Brush Trees Duo”, part of the Classic Christmas collection. This set comes with plates to cut out Christmas trees in two different sizes, and I chose to only use the smaller plates today. I cut out 5 small trees in the colors yellow, pink, green, blue and purple. To adhere these trees to my front panel, I intercalated between using liquid adhesive and foam tape to add a little bit of dimension to some of these trees, and give the impression that some Christmas trees are at the front and others in the back. For the small tree ornaments, I cut it out of a piece of holographic cardstock. I used the metal plate included in the set to do so, and I was able to cut out lots of these tiny pieces at once!
For the sentiment, I used the Spellbinders “Christmas Die & Glimmer Sentiments” hot foil plate and die set. I die cut the script word “Making” out of a piece of silver cardstock, and for the hot foiled portion of the sentiment, I used a piece of silver foil.
This second note card is top folding and it measures 4 ¼” x 5 ½”. I started by creating a hot foiled frame for my white 4” x 5 ¼” panel. I used a piece of Prism foil and I used the Spellbinders “Scalloped Rectangle Glimmer Essentials With Sentiments” set. Unfortunately this is an old set and it is not available anymore.
To create this beautiful flower arrangement, I used the Spellbinders “Christmas Bird Poinsettia” die set, also part of the Classic Christmas collection! This set also comes with metal plates to cut out a very cute bird, but I chose not to use that today.
Since my card base is bright pink, I cut the poinsettias out of light pink to match ! For the candy canes, I used red and iridescent glitter cardstock. For the leaves and sprigs, I used light green and holographic cardstock.
For the sentiment, I used the Spellbinders “Christmas Die & Glimmer Sentiments” hot foil plate and die set one more time! I die cut the script word “Season’s” out of a piece of metallic red cardstock, and to complete the sentiment I used a piece of red foil.
As a final touch, I added flat back red rhinestones here and there. Always make sure to use liquid adhesive on your projects, and remember that we can remove most over-foiling with a sand eraser!
These were the non-traditional note cards that I had to share with you today, and I hope you felt inspired! I appreciate you visiting my blog, and I hope you have a wonderful day! Happy crafting and I hope to see you again soon!
