Grandma’s Note Cards
Hello crafters! Today I have some very special note cards to share with you! These note cards were handmade by my grandmother Deolinda Cavalieri who is going to be 90 years old in July!
On my last trip to Brazil she told me I could have her folder, filled with handmade note cards, that she made about 40 years ago. I feel so honored to have them, and I will treasure it forever!
She can’t really remember all of the details that went into making them, but I know that the front panel is made out of vellum, or something similar to vellum, and they are all very light weight. She traced all of the images with a pen and added color with either coloring pencils or crayons. She added all of these intricate details by using needles (Yes! She poked one hole at a time!) and a pair of scissors!
Aside from card making, she would also do painting on fabrics and do embroidery; not to mention she used to cook the best food ever! So, being crafty definitely runs in the family! Nowadays she can’t do much with her hands, but luckily my aunties are great cooks just as she is, and hopefully, one day, I will manage to make note cards as beautiful as hers!
I hope this post inspired you today! You can click here to take a closer look at all of her note cards as well to watch me reorganize them! Thank you so much for stopping by, and have an amazing day!
