Butterflies Note Cards

One set, Multiple Techniques!

Hello crafters! Today’s note cards are featuring the Spellbinders, “Stitched Glimmer Butterflies” set. What I love about this set is that we have many options for decorating the butterfly’s wings. We can either do the hot foil, stitching or die cutting inlay technique! Not to mention that we can also do the stenciling technique, by using the butterflies die cuts as stencils!

With so many techniques as an option, I went out of town with this set, and created lots of note cards at once! To add some interest to the white background panels, I used the Spellbinders, “Faux Stitch” embossing folder, but I cut out a section of each panel off on a diagonal, before adhering it to my note cards.

All of today’s note cards fit A2 size envelopes. However, because I wanted part of the butterfly’s wings sticking out on some of them, I cut the card base to 5” x 3 ¾”. And, since I used 100Lb cardstock for the card base, I also added white panels inside the note cards so it feels heavyweight and stands nicely on display!

Since I have a lot of white cardstock scraps, I die cut most of the butterfly pieces out of white cardstock, and added color later by ink blending over the die cuts with Ranger Distress Oxide Inks.

To do the stitching technique, I used DMC floss and only three stands. For embellishments I used either silver or gold flat back beads as well and flowers sequins that I purchased from amazon.com.

For the sentiment, I either used a plate included in the “Stitched Glimmer Butterflies” set or foiled sentiment strips that I created using the Spellbinders “Mini Everyday Sentiment” and “More Sentiments” sets.
